Qunt Albi Horaci, errors en les còpies i interpretacions d'una inscripció llatina

    En aquest article s’analitza una inscripció romana que pertany a Quint Albi Horaci, un militar del segle ii, condecorat diverses vegades pels emperadors Trajà i Adrià, i de la qual es troben diverses interpretacions i errors de còpia comesos al llarg de la seua història. Un d’aquests errors podria haver portat a una assignació equivocada del lloc de naixement del personatge a qui es referix la inscripció, tradicionalment atribuït a Illici, l’actual Elx. Molt possiblement, el vocable interpretat com a ILLICI correspondria en realitat a FELICI, el cognomen del militar.

    After the analysis of a Roman inscription that belongs to Quintus Albius Horatius, a military man from the second century who was on different occassions decorated by the emperors Trajanus and Hadrianus, various interpretations and copy errors have been found throughout its history. One of these errors might have led to the erroneous setting of the birthplace of the character this inscription refers to, traditionally attributed to Illici, the present Elx. Almost without any doubt, the word ILLICI would actually correspond to FELICI, the military man’s surname.
