The article does a historical investigation of the work and trajectory of Francisca Senhorinha da Motta Diniz, a pioneer in the feminine press in the interior of Minas Gerais state in the second half of the 19th century and a tough advocate of the broadening of women’s rights and liberties in the patriarchal society.
