El bodyboard es un deporte realizado en un medio natural como el mar y que consiste en deslizarse sobre las olas con una tabla. Esta comunicación presenta una propuesta innovadora centrada en la aplicación de este contenido a la Educación Física en la Educación Secundaria Obligatoria desarrollado en un centro escolar situado en un municipio costero. Tras contextualizar y definir los aspectos básicos de este deporte, se presentan los diferentes elementos que constituyen la unidad didáctica “Nos iniciamos en el bodyboard” y la adaptación de la enseñanza de este contenido al contexto escolar.
Bodyboarding is an outdoor activity related to the world of adventure sports in the sea. It represents a way of living adopting a healthy alternative lifestyle with unique sensations. This paper presents an innovative approach focused on the implementation of a bodyboard unit in a Physical Education (PE) syllabus carried out in a secondary school located on a coastal town on the southeast of Spain. The didactic unit describes the adaptations involved in order to teach this sport in a school-based PE situation and contacts with pupils´ interests which emerge from their social context. From a pedagogical point of view, using a small board easy to transport seems the best way for pupils to enjoy wave riding quickly and consistently. The students develop basic movement skills for bodyboarding and are introduced to the knowledge of a healthy related physical activity that may lead them to active lifestyles and engage to be active outside school. This is done with a focus on fun and enjoyment
