Rowling�s Harry Potter series posits a posthumanist paradigm through Harry�s numerous encounters with creatures like werewolves and merpeople that defy species boundaries and especially through Harry�s own experiences with animal embodiment. When Harry�s body and subjectivity undergo animal metamorphoses, his ontological identity becomes increasingly unstable. Rowling�s novels urge the reader to reconsider the social ordering between human and nonhuman animals within the series and the real world.
