    La vila medieval de Pals, una de les joies de l’Empordà, ha fet emergir una nova perspectiva del seu passat històric. La recerca i la investigació històrica promoguda pel Cercle Català d’Història i l’investigador local de Pals, el Sr. Narcís Subirana, que fa més de cinc anys que hi treballen, ha aportat llum a una de les qüestions de més debat pel que fa a la possibilitat que Pals hagi tingut un port a l’època moderna.Efectivament, tal com veurem, la vila de Pals fou en el passat una vila marinera amb activitat portuària documentada fins al segle XVIII i amb més indicis que allargarien la vida del seu nucli mariner i pescador palsenc, situat a la platja de Pals fins a inicis del segle XX. Un nucli poblacional desaparegut del qual encara queden restes arqueològiques per estudiar dedicat al món del mar, la pesca i l’exportació com també van tenir les altres poblacions costaneres catalanes, que, en canvi, són a bastament documentades. L’estudi del port de Pals pot obrir la via a conèixer, en concret, molt millor la realitat de la costa catalana i, en general, la vida marítima d’un país que ha viscut durant molts de segles abocat al mar.

    The medieval village of Pals, one of the jewels of the Empordà, has clearly shown a new perspective of its historical past.Research and historical research promoted by the Cercle Català d'Història and the local investigator from Pals, Mr. Narcis Subirana who have worked for more than five years have brought to light one of the most debate issues concerning the possibility Pals that would have a port in the modern era.Indeed as we shall see, the town of Pals was in the past a fishing village with port activity documented until the eighteenth century and more evidence to lengthen the life of your core sailor and fisherman located on the beach of Pals until the early twentieth century. A population center disappeared remaining to study archaeological remains dedicated to the world of sea fishing and export and also had other Catalan coastal populations, they however, abundantly documented.The study Pals port can open the way to better meet the specific reality of the Catalan coast and marine life in general from a country that has lived for centuries devoted entirely to the sea.
