  • The article focuses on British Labour Party politician Lord Peter Mandelson's claim that small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) will not be able to provide the major funding that Europe required to return its growth. He points out that nine out of 10 SMEs did not borrow significantly nor grow and the pressure face by Europe from medium and long-term investment as banks' balance sheets decline and investors withdraw from riskier asset classes.
