A response to the article "How To Deter China" by Andrew Krepinevich Jr. which appeared in the March/April 2015 issue is presented. Topics include Krepinevich's call for the U.S. to launch an archipelagic defense in the Pacific that would station significant U.S. and allied ground forces in the first island chain and beyond; the relative decline of U.S. military and economic hegemony in Asia; and a discussion of U.S.-Chinese relations, incentives for the countries to work together, and China's position as a rising great power.
