RAE de Hong Kong (China)
This is an important and largely eloquent review of the way international news organizations project themselves and are perceived by their erstwhile audience – in Developing Countries. An impressively wide selection of news organizations are covered from the BBC, VOA, DW, RFI through Al Jazeera and CNN to CCTV and RT. On the receiving side, numerous interviews with people from multiple social groups in five developing countries – Kenya, Egypt, Senegal, India, and Pakistan - are presented. Quite why these countries were selected is a bit of a mystery – the absence of South America, the Middle East, Central and non-Sub-Continent Asia, and the Pacific Islands is noted. Perhaps it was a matter of budget and access during the study.
