    Según Charles Taylor, no podemos imaginar una vida humana sin su orientación ética. Eso significa que la dimensión moral es constitutiva de la subjetividad. La persona sólo puede comprenderse a sí misma en el contexto de las evaluaciones fuertes. Para Taylor, la filosofía moral contemporánea debe comenzar redefiniendo los límites de la disciplina, de tal modo que incluya, no sólo los aspectos en torno a lo que debemos hacer o lo que es de utilidad para la mayoría, sino también cuestiones abandonadas negligentemente sobre lo que significa vivir una buena vida y lo que podemos esperar en el sufrimiento y la muerte

    According to Charles Taylor we cannot imagine a human life without the ethical orientation of the self. That means that the moral dimension is constitutive of subjectivity. The person can only be understood against the background of strong evaluations. For Taylor, contemporary moral philosophy must begin by redefining the limits of the discipline to include not only the issues of what we ought to do or what is of utility for the majority, but also matters negligently abandoned about what it means to live a good life and what we can expect in suffering and death
