  • Preadjustment of body weight for age is an important step in genetic evaluation programs of cattle. Moreover, precocity in increasing body weight is an important aim in selection. The authors report a set of multiplicative adjustment coefficients of body weight for age in Carora cows. The adjustment coefficients were computed from the solutions of age from a mixed animal model including herd by year and year by season as fixed factors and genetic and permanent environmental effects as random factor. A weighted regression on age solutions provided a smoothed description of the growth curve.
