  • Preweaning growth was evaluated on a high breed ovine West African flock, in tropical dry forest environment, grazing on B. decumbens (30 %), D. swazilandensis (30%) and H. rufa (60%); stocking rate was equivalent to 16 anim/ha. Variance of birth weight (PN), weaning weight (PD) and preweaning growth weight (GDPRD) were analized by a least square method, considering the effects of sex (M,H); type of birth (TP): simple (Ps) or multiple (Pm); season of birth (EN): rainy (LL), transcision (T) and dry (S); year of birth (AÑO): 93, 94 y 95; interactions, age (EMP) and weight (PMP) at lambing mother and age at weaning lambs (ED) as covariables.
