The objective of this work was to determine the root and nodules distribution in Stylosanthes hamata and its relationship with the physical and chemical characteristics of soil in two locations of the Maracaibo Lake basin. Five samples per location were taken during the rainy season (October-November). An split plot design was used, with two locations, three depths (10, 20 30 cms), two distances (0- 25 25- 50 cms) and five replications. The variables evaluated were: distribution (DN) and number of nodules (NN), weigth (PR) and distribution of roots (DR).
