  • In La Esperanza farm of Agronomy Faculty, Zulia University, located in the Rosario de Perija county, of Zulia State, characterized as a dry tropical forrest zone, an experimental was carried in order to evaluate the effects of different watering sheet on total dry matter weight (PMST), root dry weihgt (PSRAIZ),, crude protein content (PC) and mimosine content (MIM) of Leucaena leucocephala, subject to 6 irrigations treatments (0; 2.5; 5.0; 7.5; and 10 L/plant/week during dry season and 10 L/plant/week during half of dry season). A randomized complete block desing with four replications was used. The results showed that PMST and PSRAIZ exist differences (P < .01) between results obtained, differences were not found for PC and MIM. 10 L/plant/week, was the best treatment for forage production variables; though, the trees answered quickly often receiving the water in the raining season.
