This study, based on a national survey of senior communication executives (specifically Arthur W. Page Society members), assesses the role of “Business 101” knowledge in public relations education. The results of the survey suggest that senior communication executives place high importance on business acumen; that such competencies help professionals attain higher compensation; and that executives believe public relations educators should place a greater focus on “Business 101” in curricula. Recommendations for teaching and future research are provided
