  • A close correspondence is shown to exist between some aspects of osmosis and electrochemistry. The correspondence includes the states of osmotic resp. electrochemical equilibrium with the appearance of an osmotic pressure resp. an electrochemical potential difference, and the reversible or irreversible processes which extract work from an osmotic apparatus or galvanic element.
