Resumen de Teflon Tape as a Sample Support for IR Spectroscopy

Keith A. Oberg, Daniel R. Palleros

  • A method for making inexpensive IR Teflon cards is presented. Commercial Teflon tape is stretched over an appropriate holder made of metal, plastic, or cardboard with a hole cut in the center. The effects of stretching and sample application on the quality of the IR spectrum are discussed. IR spectra of some typical organic compounds obtained with these homemade Teflon cards are shown.
