    Objetivo: Dar una visión de los criterios éticos para la acción dentro de las organizaciones de salud.

    Método: Se realiza una revisión de base bibliográfica sobre el tema de la ética de las instituciones sanitarias, principales autores y obras más significativas. Se ofrece una necesaria visión histórica de la evolución ética de las instituciones sanitarias y una valoración actualizada de los criterios éticos que deben de caracterizar a toda institución sanitaria.

    Conclusiones: Actualmente las personas de una sociedad esperan que las instituciones sanitarias se caractericen por los valores éticos y el buen hacer. La ética es en la actualidad un valor en alza en la sociedad y en las instituciones de carácter sanitario. A la luz de la evolución histórica de la ética de las instituciones sanitarias, los criterios éticos serán la base más importante de valoración global de las instituciones de éste tipo.

    Objective: To provide a clear view of the ethical criteria for action within healthcare organizations.

    Method: We reviewed literature base on the subject of ethics of health care institutions, and major authors and of the main works. It provides a necessary historical review of the ethical evolution of health institutions and an updated assessment of the ethical criteria that must characterize any health institution.

    Conclusions: Today people expect in society that health care institutions are characterized by ethical values and good work. Ethics is now a rising valor in society and in a sanitary institutions. In light of the historical evolution of the ethics of health care institutions, we can see at the ethical criteria are the most important basis of overall assessment of the institutions of this kind.
