This work is the result of a study analysis and documentation of the monument known as the Terme di Musiciolus / Baths of Musiciolus (IV, XV, 2), located in the south-eastern suburbium of Ostia, near the synagogue. The building has the typical characteristics of balnea that, during the late Antiquity period, were built within the urban and suburban context of the city of Ostia, settling in many cases existing buildings for other activities such as horrea. Similarly, the monument is inserted inside an earlier building, of which several constructive phases were identified, reviewing the dates provided by the archaeological literature. The stratigraphic and functional analysis led to the development of new hypotheses about the characteristics of thermal rooms and services, and to provide a postulate reconstruction of the elevations. In conclusion, the proliferation in the Late Antiquity of small baths along the Via Severiana has been connected with the development of trade documented by sources at the end of the fourth century.
