  • Flame test demonstrations provide an interesting and colorful method to introduce a variety of topics to students and to individuals at public science centers. This article describes a flame test method that provides a way to set up quickly, clean up, and produce a large and very intense flame that can easily be seen in a 300-seat lecture auditorium. In addition to simple color observations, each audience member can easily see individual bands of color for each element.
