Resumen de Using Copper Sulfate as a Classification Test for Amino Acids and Amines

Christine K. F. Hermann

  • Copper sulfate has been used to test for the presence of amino acids and amines, but since some amino acids do not dissolve well in water, the test would give an incorrect, negative result. Herein, we offer a modification of this test that includes heating the amino acid and the copper sulfate solution in a hot water bath and subsequent observation of the resulting color.
