Resumen de El grupo medicago arbórea en la cuenca mediterránea: I. Origen, distribución y morfología

  Se describe el origen y distribución de la Sec. Dendrotelis del género Medicago en la Cuenca Mediterránea y se aportan datos sobre la diferenciación morfológica entre Medicago arbórea, M. citrina y M. strasserii (tipo de ramificación y características de sus hojas, flores, legumbres y semillas). En conjunto, M. citrina destaca frente a las otras dos especies citadas por sus hojas, frutos y semillas de mayor tamaño. Este taxon se distribuye por el Mediterráneo Occidental, mientras que las otras dos lo hacen por el Mediterráneo Oriental..   The origin and distribution of the genus Medicago Secc. Dendrotelis in the Mediterranean Basin is described and data are presented about the main morphological differences between the species M. arbórea, M. citrina and M. strasseri (branching pattern, leaf size, flower, pod and seed characteristics). M. citrina stands out against the other two species because its has larger leaves, pods and seeds, but also because it is restricted to the western side of the Mediterranean Basin, just opposite to the distribution centre of M. arbórea and M. strasseri (Aegean Sea).
