  • Perceptual experience and episodic memory appear to differ, among other things, in that the former is concerned with the present whereas the latter is concerned with the past. Can we do justice to this appearance within a framework that, on the one hand, insists on a B-theoretic metaphysic of time and, on the other, does not impute systematic error on perception and memory? This article shows how we can. The crucial element is a distinction between content-based and attitude-based encoding of temporal information
