Resumen de Issues of Gender Equality and Diversity in Broadcast News Policy
The objective of this article is to investigate the relationship between concerns for diver- sity and concerns for gender equality in broadcasting companies from Sweden, the UK and the US. This is carried out through analyses of policy documents accessible on the com- panies’ websites. The contents of the policies and their definitions of diversity are dis-cussed in a context of gender equality and multiculturalism. The concluding results of the study indicate national differences in definitions and applications of diversity, but also, and more importantly, a similar tendency in all three countries to subordinate concerns for gender equality to concerns for diversity.
