    • Owning Social Skills developed (HS) can be considered crucial for good performance in the workplace. Socially skilled individuals tend to have greater personal and interpersonal competence, leading to the establishment of more satisfying relationships, both personal and professional. This study aims to assess the social skills of employees who work with the public service of a Higher Education Institution (HEI) located in downtown of a city in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. The sample consisted of 15 individuals, aged 18-45 years. The Social Skills Inventory, which has 38 self-report items to refer to the repertoire of HS usually required in a sample of everyday situations was applied. The obtained data point that the sample individuals showed no deficits in their HS, however, in some specific factors evaluated, results showed some not so favorable. It is necessary that the institutions promote means to facilitate new skills and knowledge to your staff, enabling the development of well-being and quality of life of its members, which enables the professional accomplishment and consequently increases the yield and productivity in the work.
