  La presencia de dientes supernumerarios es relativamente escasa en la población general. Estos generalmente se presentan en la parte anterior -mesiodens- y más comúnmente en el maxilar que en la mandíbula. Ocurren en su mayoría de manera única aunque también se encuentran en pares o múlti¬ples. Son más comunes en hombres que en mujeres. Una vez encontrados deben ser extraídos lo más pronto posible para evitar que causen daño.

  ABSTRACT The presence of supernumerary teeth in patients is relatively uncommon in the population in general. Those are generally present in the anterior part -mesiodens - and more commonly in the maxilla than in the jaw. Generally, supernumerary teeth are present alone although they are also in pairs or multiples. They are more common in men than in women. Once they are diagnosed they should be extracted as soon as possible to prevent that they cause damage.
