  http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/2175-7941.2008v25n3p546Apoiando uma das extremidades de uma haste no chão, e deixando- a cair, junto com uma esfera, colocada inicialmente a uma altura igual à extremidade livre da haste, quem chega com velocidade maior ao solo: a extremidade livre da haste ou a esfera? Neste trabalho são apresentadas diversas soluções, em níveis crescentes de complexidade. Conclui-se que questões como essa podem propiciar o desenvolvimento de atividades investigativas no ambiente da sala de aula e, eventualmente, despertar em alguns estudantes vocações para a carreira tecnológica.

  Place one end of a rod on the floor and drop it, along with a ball, originally placed at a height equal to the free end of the rod.

  Which one, if either, has the larger speed when it hits the ground:

  the free end of the rod or the ball? In this work are presented several solutions, in increasing levels of complexity. We conclude that such questions can help the development of investigative activities in the classroom environment, and eventually lead some students to technology careers.
