  • English

This work describes the effect of several alkaloid fractions obtained from E. americana seeds, which allowed the evaluation of the in vitro toxicity in some crustaceans, such as Daphnia magna and Artemia salina, in the bacterium Bacillus cereus, and in the nematode Panagrellus redivivus. The fraction of liberated alkaloids showed a low toxicity in D. magna and P. Redivivus while, on the other hand, the alkaloidal fractions did not show toxicity on the other organisms that were tested. With the use of GC/MS,interesting results were obtained due to the identification of dienoic alkaloids with a higher proportion of erysovine than erysodinein the liberated alkaloid fraction.
