Mastopatía diabética

    RESUMENObjetivo: revisar las características de la mastopatía diabética a partir de un caso clínico. Materiales y Métodos: se presenta la historia clínica de una mujer afectada por mastopatía diabética y se revisa la literatura mediante selección de artículos relevantes presentados en el motor de búsqueda PubMed con los términos “diabetic mastopathy”. Los artículos considerados pertinentes correspondieron a presentaciones o series de casos, con información redundante por lo cual la selección de los artículos que soportan la información del presente artículo se hizo por selección del autor. Se excluyeron cartas al editor y los artículos no pertinentes al tema. Resultados: se describe el caso de una paciente con diabetes tipo 1 que consultó por hallazgo de masa palpable en la mama derecha. En los exámenes, la ecografía mamaria fue reportada como Bi-rads 4 y la biopsia fue compatible con mastopatía diabética. Conclusiones: La mastopatía diabética es una enfermedad poco frecuente que puede ocurrir en mujeres con diabetes e imitar clínicamente un cáncer de mama.     .ABSTRACTObjective: to review the characteristics of diabetic mastopathy from a clinical case. Materials and Methods: It is presented the clinical history of a woman affected by diabetic mastopathy and a review the literature by selection of relevant articles presented in the search engine PUBMED by the words “diabetic mastopathy”. Articles considered relevant corresponded to case or series reports where repetitive information was found, so the selection of papers that support the information in this article was made by selection of the author. Letters to the editor and irrelevant articles were excluded. Results: we describe the case of a patient with type 1 diabetes who presented palpable mass in the right breast. In the tests, breast ultrasound was reported as Bi-rads 4 and the biopsy was compatible with diabetic mastopathy. Conclusions: the diabetic mastopathy is a rare disease which can occur in women with diabetes and which clinically imitates breast cancer. MÉD.UIS. 2014;27(3):109 112.Keywords: Breast.
