    We have tried to gather, in the scholia to the Pythian Odes, the indications which may reveal the idea that the scholiasts got of the relation of Pindar to the authors who preceded him and particularly to Homer. Occasionally, they compare one element of the Pindaric poem with a Homeric fact without suggesting that Pindar may have imitated Homer, but very often they seem to have thought that Pindar conformed to the Homeric model, and they can even say that explicitely, whether they consider a morphological or lexical peculiarity, or a figure, a history, a moral or religious teaching. It happens also that they say that Pindar wanted to innovate against the Homeric tradition. These associations between Pindar and Homer often depend on an interpretation, more or less problematic, of both poetical texts compared by the commentator, so that this survey drags us on the ground of literary history, but also on the ground of exegesis

    Nous avons essayé de rassembler, dans les scholies aux Pythiques, les indications qui pouvaient illustrer l’idée que se font les scholiastes du rapport de Pindare aux auteurs qui l’ont précédé et particulièrement à Homère. Parfois, ils rapprochent un élément du poème pindarique d’un fait homérique sans suggérer que Pindare ait pu imiter Homère, mais très souvent ils semblent avoir pensé que Pindare se conformait au modèle homérique, et ils peuvent même le dire explicitement, qu’il s'agisse d’une particularité morphologique ou lexicale, d’une figure, d’une histoire, d’un enseignement moral ou religieux. Il arrive aussi qu’ils nous disent que Pindare a voulu innover par rapport à la tradition homérique. Ces associations entre Pindare et Homère dépendent souvent d’une interprétation plus ou moins problématique des deux textes poétiques rapprochés par le commentateur, de sorte que cette enquête nous entraîne sur le terrain de l’histoire littéraire mais aussi de l’exégèse
