Resumen de Evolución de la gestión del acueducto y alcantarillado en Barranquilla, Colombia, entre 1980 y 2012

El presente artículo muestra los avances que estamos alcanzando en la investigación titulada “Gestión social e institucional del agua y el alcantarillado y su incidencia en la salud y el bienestar de los estratos 1 y 2 del Área Metropolitana de Barranquilla, entre los años 1980 y 2012”. Primero ofrecemos una perspectiva general del estado de la cuestión sobre estos temas en América Latina. Luego se realiza una breve reseña del origen y evolución del acueducto, en el siglo XX, para abordar a continuación como pasa el manejo público hacia una gestión por parte de las empresas privadas, como la Triple A, a partir de los años noventa.

The article makes a reflection on the processes of management of the aqueduct and sewer systems in the city of Barranquilla from the eighties. Developing an overview of the state of the art of these investigations in Latin America, it then makes a brief overview of the origin and evolution of the aqueduct of this city in the twentieth century and ends with an analysis of privatization of the handling and management of the water through the company to Triple A, from the years 90 of the last century.
