    Los países liberados por San Martín –Argentina, Chile y Perú– legitiman sus respectivos cantos en 1813, 1819 y 1821. El himno peruano representa el gesto lírico que consagra su acción emancipadora. Sin embargo, pese a que se trata del único de los tres poemas que registra su nombre, es también el único que cuestiona el valor de su representatividad: un verso –“largo tiempo el peruano oprimido”–considerado apócrifo, pues se agregó de manera espontánea durante el gobierno de Bolívar, aparece o desaparece según la tendencia del gobierno de turno.

    The countries that gained their independence thanks to San Martín´s liberation movement –Argentina, Chile y Perú–, legitimized their anthems in 1813, 1819 y 1821 respectively. The Peruvian National Anthem represents its lyric gesture of emancipation. Even though the Peruvian National Anthem is the only one that mentions San Martín´s name, it is also the only one that questions the value of its representation: one altered verse –“the long time oppressed Peruvian”–, which espontaneusly appeared, during Bolívar´s government, is sang according to the political tendency of the time.
