    El sistema belga de seguridad social es un complicado laberinto de regulaciones. Esto es, entre otras cosas, una consecuencia de la compleja división de poderes entre el Gobierno Federal, las Comunidades y las Regiones. A fin de clarificar esto, el siguiente artículo intenta dar una breve visión general de los principales Reglamentos y Leyes de la seguridad social belga. La primera sección dará una introducción concisa a la seguridad social belga mediante la descripción de la división de poderes en el área de la seguridad social, los caracteres generales del sistema belga de seguridad social y sus Leyes generales sobre seguridad social. La segunda sección analiza los principales Reglamentos en relación con los riesgos y prestaciones que están cubiertos por el sistema belga de seguridad social (vejez, incapacidad laboral, accidentes de trabajo y enfermedades profesionales, desempleo, familia, salud y asistencia social). Este capítulo también describirá los principales recursos online sobre visión general de las tres principales bases de datos online sobre legislación, jurisprudencia y doctrina belgas.

    The Belgian social security system is a complicated maze of regulations. This is, among other things, a consequence of the complex division of powers between the Federal Government, the Communities and the Regions. In order to clarify this, the following article attempts to give a short overview of the main regulations and acts of the Belgian social security. The first section will give a concise introduction to Belgian social security by describing the division of powers within the area of social security; the general character of the Belgian social security system and its general laws on social security. The second section discusses the main regulation with respect to the risks and benefits which are covered by the Belgian social security system (old age, incapacity for work, industrial accidents and occupational diseases, unemployment, family, health care and social assistance). This chapter will also outline the main online resources for information concerning risks and benefits. Finally an overview will be given of the three main online databases for Belgian regulation, jurisprudence and doctrine.
