Resumen de Both Nylon and PET Fibers Burn Continuously under Atmospheric Conditions

Shouei Fujishige, Nagako Maebashi, Mizue Miyauchi

  • In contrast to the descriptions in many textbooks, it was confirmed by taking two series of photographs that both nylon and PET fibers burn continuously even after the ignition flame has been removed. The photographs also show that a small spherical fire ball forms and occasionally leaves from the flame. Considerable precautions should be taken to prevent those fire balls from causing any trouble—not only a skin burn, but also a big fire.
