  • Resumen
    • Capillary electrophoresis (CE) is a relatively new separation technique that has enjoyed increasing popularity in the last decade. A wide range of samples can be rapidly separated and quantified by CE, requiring only small amounts of sample and solvent. CE is not a widely demonstrated technique in the undergraduate laboratory. However, as CE continues to gain popularity many of our students will encounter capillary electrophoretic techniques in the workplace. We have therefore included CE in the chemistry syllabus. The experiments described here give a suitable introduction to capillary electrophoresis and effectively illustrate the mechanism of separation.
