El municipio es una institución significativa dentro de la organización político-administrativa del Estado. Conscientes de esta idea, dentro de los modelos de integración regionales en América Latina se han ido abriendo nuevos espacios que, aprovechando instituciones preexistentes y creando otras nuevas, apuestan por el asociativismo como medio para la unidad del subcontinente. En tal sentido ofrecemos un análisis que permita comprender la realidad y potencialidades del asociativismo municipal dentro de tales procesos

The municipality is a significant institution within the state political and administrative organization. Aware of this idea, new spaces have been opened with in models of regional integration in Latin America that, taking advantage of preexisting institutions and creating new ones, bet on municipal association as a means to unite the subcontinent. In this regard, we offer an analysis to understand the reality and potential of municipal association within such processes
