THE new School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Surrey was officially opened by the Queen last week, having taken in its first students a year ago.
During her visit on October 15, the Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, toured the large animal skills building, where she met students undertaking equine examinations and working with livestock; viewed a demonstration in the biomechanics laboratory, where she met Noel Fitzpatrick, professor of orthopaedics at the school; and observed a teaching session in the clinical skills laboratory, where she again met students and staff. She also unveiled a plaque in the new teaching facilities in a ceremony to mark the occasion....
