  • The author discusses the significance of cities and municipalities in climate change mitigation and argues that cities and municipalities can become more powerful than national governments in implementing climate change policy, poverty reduction, and health improvement. He discusses the generation known as the Metropolitan Generation, international collaboration among cities in idea-sharing and coalition-building, and the competitive advantage of cities in acting quickly on climate change mitigation policies for economic development. The article discusses climate change policies in several cities such as New York City, Beijing, China, and London, England
