Resumen de Arquitectura efímera y parrandas en Remedios. ¿Fiesta barroca o metáfora de lo americano?

Juan Carlos Hernández Rodríguez, Erick González Bello

  • Parrandas is an urban event that divides the municipality into two segments or neighborhoods. The parties are an image of the socio-cultural organization or a town, although they are not its exact reproduction. In Remedios, a system of buildings and structures (arcades, castles, palaces, towers and gazeboes) became popular and yearly got into peaceful arguments with the square stable architecture. From those century-old constructions, an ephemeral, mutant architecture emerges and takes up again diverse styles. Hence, late in the year it is possible to appreciate the city stable eclecticism from different points together with an artistic collage which lasts for a few days. This is one of the characteristics of the baroque festivities held in most of Latin America. They moved the work at time to the streets with a subsequent collective joy, by widening thus their influence range within the bearing community.
