This article explores the recent history of careers information, advice and guidance (IAG) and how it has been shaped by successive government policies and initiatives. It looks at the impact of these initiatives, particularly how they have influenced students' attitudes to STEMrelated careers. It also looks at recommendations for implementing school-centred careers IAG, and explores the impact of STEM subject teachers on STEM-specific careers advice. Finally, it outlines key influencers and motivation factors on students considering STEM study options and careers, and how schools and subject teachers can support them.
