  • NEWS that Vets4Pets is to start offering round the clock routine appointments (VR, March 21, 2015, vol 176, p 298) should be good news for pets. It should be good news, too, that an owner can drop their pet off in the early morning and not have to wait for a consultation, but just pick it up later. It should be good news that busy owners can pop in at 2.00 am for a routine check-up. All power to market forces! In reality I am concerned. According to Vets4Pets, pets will be seen by the same teams. What about Working Time Directives? Surely no veterinary team can be there ‘24/7’. Rotation of staff will be needed....
