Rob Henderson, chairman of XL Farmcare Midlands, comments: The requirements for a successful tender in the Midlands Region were that we offered a saving of at least 10 per cent to Defra, while at the same time providing a fully managed service that includes a high-quality assurance process, sufficient indemnity insurance and a work flow management and administration system to cover the whole region.
Our payments rates do offer a fair return for work done when they are averaged out across all herd sizes. The average test size in the Midlands Region is currently 87 head. Historically, small individual TB tests have often been unattractive propositions relative to other herds and this is unlikely to change....
