    • Discussions about health problems in pedigree dogs often revolve around the way that the dogs are bred, with breed guidelines, health schemes and responsible breeding frequently being cited as the best ways to improve canine health and welfare. But this is only part of the picture. At this year's BSAVA congress, Philippa Robinson suggested that a novel approach is needed to combat health problems in pedigree dogs, and that the demand for dogs – as well as the supply – must be properly understood for things to change.
