Este artículo trata de trazar un recorrido sobre la historia del documental en Chile con el objetivo de representar el conflicto que enfrenta el pueblo mapuche con el gobierno. Para ello se analizan los orígenes históricos del problema y las principales manifestaciones de esta corriente fílmica para representar al indígena en Chile como una entidad silenciada y de carácter premoderno.

This paper attempts to sketch a map about the history of the documentary, as mean of expression, in Chile for representing the conflict between Mapuche people and the government. So that, it shows the historical origins of the problem and the main manifestations of this cinematographic trend to represent the indigenous in Chile as silenced essence with premodern character.
