An overview of politics and government in Iraq, including the authoritarianism of the former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, the rule of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, protests against government corruption in July 2015 and the influence that Iran has on the Iraqi government, is provided
