En el presente trabajo nos centramos en el crítico, dramaturgo y ensayista español José Martínez Ruiz (Azorín). Fue una de las figuras más emblemáticas en cuanto a la recepción del teatro extranjero de vanguardia en España, especialmente, en la época finisecular. Entre los autores extranjeros que le apasionaban, sin lugar a dudas, Maeterlinck ejerció una influencia colosal sobre él y su obra Lo invisible. Son tangibles las analogías entre el español y el belga si comparamos el texto azoriniano con La intrusa.

In this paper, I focus on the Spanish critic, playwright and essayist, José Martínez Ruiz (Azorín). He was one of the most prominent figures in the process of reception of the foreign theater in Spain. Among the international authors who influenced him, Maurice Maeterlinck was the most distinguished. There are clear analogies between Azorín and Maeterlinck when we compare Lo invisible with Intruder.
