Resumen de Oeconomica, consejo y territorio en la idea moderna de policía

  Entre sus varias acepciones, con el término “policía” se describía durante la Edad Moderna una técnica de intervención general de la autoridad pública orientada a la armonía social, a procurar los medios que garantizaran la felicidad y tranquilidad del súbdito: paz y armonía, abastecimiento, etc. Su efectividad es otra cuestión, pero era un principio de clara base aristotélica, sujeto al contexto de la Oeconomica (el gobierno de la casa), hecho que, aplicado al rey, tendía a extender y difuminar espacialmente los límites de su casa. Es esta una base metodológica legítima para valorar hasta qué punto el gobierno del territorio se entendía como un gobierno doméstico ampliado, como se deduce del protagonismo en él de aquellos órganos administrativos más claramente inscritos en el espacio reservado del rey, caso del Consejo Real. En el ámbito de sus extensas atribuciones, la transferencia de las decisiones reales al espacio de los reinos se articulaba, entre otros medios, mediante las llamadas Consultas de los Viernes, que reunían periódicamente al rey y su Consejo en su antecámara. Como resultado de todo ello, la respectiva evolución del espacio doméstico regio, del cauce institucional de sus decisiones (Consejo) y de la formalidad jurídica y administrativa de las mismas (Policía) estuvo estrechamente enlazada en tiempos modernos.

  Among other meanings, the term police describes during the early modern times an intervention thecnic of the public authority which aim was the social harmony, by those means that were guaranteeing the hapiness of the subjects: peace and harmony, supply, etc. Its efficiency is another matter, but was a principle of clear aristothelic basis, subject to the context of the Oeconomica (the government of the household).

  Fact that, applied to the king, trends to extend and blur the limits of his household. This is a legitimate methodological argument to value up to what point the government of the territory was conceived as an extensive domestic government, as could be infered from the prominence in it of those administrative bodies more clearly inscribed in the king´s reserved area, like the Royal Council. In the area of its extensive attributions, the transfer of the royal decisions to the space of the kingdoms was articulated, among other means, by the channel of the Friday Consultations, that got together from time to time the king and his Council in his antechamber. As a result of all the said, the respective evolution of the domestic royal space, of the institutional way of his decisions (Council) and the legal and administrative formality of them (Police), were narrowly connected in early modern times.
