In this article the author reflects on the place that the reader occupies in relation to the fictional text and suggests that—besides involving operations and abilities to understand the object in itself, the characteristics of its worlds, its properties, values and functions, an activity that has been consecrated by the academy as well as criticism and dedicated to the epistemology of the object and its commentary—the relationship with fiction becomes, before anything, a particular dialogue with oneself and a path that opens the way for the comprehension and definition of subjectivity.
