  • Resumen
    • The biography of the perfect illuminator. Narrative models in the Italian artistic literature (16th-19th century).

This study summarizes the path of illuminators' boigraphy from the age of Humanism until the nineteenth century. In Giorgio Vasari's "Vite", some "topoi" charcterizing medieval illuminators assert themselves with success. They survive in the 17th and 18th century, even when the idea of history of art changes in search of documentary precision and adheres to new historical models (Lanzi, Seroux d'Agincourt). The biography of the mysterious "Monaco delle Isole d'oro", invented by Jean de Nostredame, appears in artistic literature at the end of the 17th century: its success in an indicator which permits to verify the leading strength of recurring models in spite of historical and documentary evidence.
