  This study is part of the narrative of the experiences lived by students and teachers from the tourism programme of Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA), during the carrying out of the extension project ‘Pedagogical tour in places of memory’.This project allowed for the acquisition of information regarding the resident community of the touristic historical center of St. Louis, between the years 2012 and 2013. Its main purpose was the elaboration of new routes based on the memories of the elderly residents of that region, raising awareness about the importance of preserving its history, both oral and built.

  Este estudo faz parte do relato de experiências vivenciadas por discentes e docentes do curso de turismo da Universidade Federal do Maranhão (UFMA), durante a execução do projeto de extensão ‘Tour pedagógico nos lugares memória’. Este projeto permitiu a aquisição de informações com a comunidade moradora no centro histórico-turístico de São Luís, entre os anos de 2012 e 2013. Teve como objetivo principal a construção de novos roteiros com base nas memórias dos moradores idosos daquela região, tentando despertar a população para a importância da preservação da sua história, oral ou edificada
