A pesar de su carácter marginal, la península maya logró insertarse en los circuitos comerciales atlánticos desde fines del siglo XVI. La presente investigación analiza el tráfico comercial sevillano-yucateco entre 1606 y 1610 desde una perspectiva socioeconómica, siendo el objetivo de la misma saber quiénes eran los hombres del comercio yucateco y a qué estrato social pertenecían.
Despite its marginal nature, the Mayan peninsula achieved to be included on the Atlantic trade routes at the end of the 16th century. The current research, based on a socio economic approach, analyses the trade traffic between Seville and Yucatan between 1606 and 1610; and its main purpose is to know who were the main characters of the trade in Yucatan and to which social class they were members of.
